How to reinstall the HART on CD program on your computer

It may become necessary to reinstall the HART on CD program under certain circumstances, including:

• Files have become corrupted on your hard drive
• Files have been erased from your hard drive
• Someone has tampered with the program licensing system
• The Windows registry has become corrupted

The above list of issues has many causes including: errors inherent to the Windows operating system, computer viruses, hard drive failures, power surges and lightning strikes, and circuitry failures due to mishandling of static-sensitive components (nearly all circuitry manufactured today is highly static-vulnerable).

Follow the steps below to reinstall the program on your computer.

STEP #1 - Deauthorize The Program

If you can open and run the program on your computer, you must first "deauthorize" the program to avoid having to contact Herbal Bookstore by phone later.

If the program is not currently running, you can skip this step and go immediately to step #2 NOW, otherwise, follow the steps below.

• Start the HART on CD program as you normally do.
• In the program's menu bar, click "File", then "Deauthorize Key". A new window will appear.
• Insert your "Authorization Key" diskette into your "A" drive on your computer.
• Select the "A" drive from the drop-down list.
• Click the "OK" button. A message will appear saying that your program has been deauthorized.
• Click the "OK" button on the message that just appeared. The message will disappear and the HART on CD program will shut down.

STEP #2 - Restart Your Computer (Very Important)

It is necessary to restart your computer before reinstallation begins. If you fail to do this, reinstallation may not be properly performed.

STEP #3 - Reinstall The Program

You now need to reinstall the HART on CD program on your computer. Follow the steps below.

• Insert the HART on CD CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive and wait 60 seconds. A window should appear indicating that the program is copying setup files. If a window does not appear by the time 60 seconds has passed, click the Windows "Start" button and then click "Run". In the box labeled "Open", type the following: D:\setup (replace "D" with the drive letter of your computer's CD-ROM drive. For most computers, this is "D", as shown in the example.).
• Follow the instructions provided by the setup program to complete the installation of the program.

IMPORTANT: If during the installation procedure you get a message that says something like this: "A file being copied is not newer than a file on your system...", just click the "No to All" button. If a "No to All" button is not shown, just click the "No" button as many times as necessary to complete the installation procedure.

STEP #4 - Authorize The Program

Now that's you've reinstalled the program, it is necessary to authorize the program to run on your computer. Follow the steps below.

• Start the program as you normally would. Click the Windows "Start" button. Move your mouse over "Programs". Now move your mouse over "HART on CD". A new "HART on CD menu appears. Click the new "HART on CD" item. The program should now start running and display a small "Authorization" window.
• Now, follow the instructions on the small "Authorization" window. See the important note below.

IMPORTANT: If you had to skip STEP #1 above because your program was not running, you may need to contact Herbal Bookstore for a "Remote Authorization". The program will let you know if the authorization procedure does not complete successfully. If this is the case, call us. When you call us for a remote authorization, we can have your program up and running in a minute or two.

Once STEP #4 is complete, your HART on CD program should run properly. If not, please contact Herbal Bookstore for technical assistance.
